By Hollie Taylor

We’re proud to share some amazing news: from over 300 entries, WhiteSpider has been named one of only 10 finalists for Team of the Year at the UK IT Industry Awards 2025.

This recognition places us alongside industry leaders such as the Bank of England, Avanti West Coast, Aviva Insurance, and NHS England, a huge milestone for a business of our size, and one that reflects the capability, commitment, and collaboration that define our team.

Congratulations to WhiteSpider on being named as a finalist for the UK IT Industry Awards. Reaching the shortlist is an impressive achievement in the face of stiff competition.

Why this recognition matters

At WhiteSpider, we specialise in architecting, transforming, and managing secure, scalable IT infrastructure. But what truly sets our people apart is how they rise to the occasion when it matters most.

Over the past year, we’ve faced challenges that most would shy away from, supporting healthcare environments where downtime isn’t just disruptive, it can have life-or-death consequences. This award nomination is, in many ways, the least we can do to recognise our team’s impact.

In just one weekend, the team delivered a never-before-attempted infrastructure migration, expediting the re-architecture of a multi-site hospital environment within a critical 24-hour window.

In another engagement, when a hospital-wide wireless LAN failure halted clinical services, we stepped in — despite not being contracted to support the system — and had a brand-new controller running by midday. Work that normally can take days, or even weeks, was completed in under a day, enabling treatments and appointments to continue.

And when frontline staff faced frustrating connectivity issues, our team deployed Watchman, our in-house innovation, to uncover the root cause and resolve it, removing barriers that were directly impacting patient care.

Time and again, our people have demonstrated what professionalism, excellence, and innovation look like in practice. That’s why this recognition matters.

Why did we focus our submission on healthcare?

We chose to spotlight healthcare in our submission not only because it’s where many of our clients operate, but because it reflects the values our team lives by every day: compassion, ethics, and accountability.

In healthcare, downtime doesn’t just cost money and reputaiton; it can cost lives. Our people never take that responsibility lightly. They embrace it, guiding clinicians and IT leaders through critical moments where technology directly impacts patients and services under immense pressure.

Keeping calm when the stakes are highest is not easy, but it’s something our people excel at. Their work goes far beyond infrastructure — it touches lives.

Applying our values across all our clients

While healthcare was the focus of our submission, the same commitment underpins everything we do.

Whether it’s enabling a leading retail client to expand into the US with our managed SD-WAN service or helping an aviation client with a complex network integration project, the approach is the same: commitment, capability, and care.

From retail to aviation, manufacturing to finance, our team consistently goes above and beyond, because excellence isn’t limited to one sector; it’s a standard we hold across all clients.

A team that truly deserves it

As our CEO Phil reflected on this shortlist:

When we started WhiteSpider over a decade ago, our mission was clear: deliver ethical, expert IT services, build partnerships with our customers, and earn their trust. Recently, we led a life-changing LAN migration for an NHS Trust whose entire hospital network had gone down. Beyond contracts or plans, our team rallied with a shared commitment to fix forward under extreme pressure, and we succeeded. This nomination is recognition of that spirit: teamwork, trust, and making a difference where it counts.

As well as our CCO, Jonny:

This recognition isn’t just about technology – it’s about trust. Every engagement we have, whether in healthcare, retail, manufacturing or defence, depends on the confidence our clients place in us to deliver when it matters most. Being shortlisted alongside some of these leading organisations is evidence that capability, care and trust are more valued that scale alone. I’m incredibly proud of our team for the professionalism and heart they continue to bring to every engagement.

We’re proud of our clients

We also want to recognise our incredible clients, the ones who, when it matters most, have the courage to make tough decisions.

They’re the leaders who pause operations, knowing the risks, to allow us to do the job properly. They make those calls not for convenience, but for the people who rely on that infrastructure:

In healthcare, it’s patients receiving critical treatment.
In aviation, its passengers making it home safely.
In retail, its customers relying on seamless shopping experiences.
In genomics, it’s breakthroughs in research that could change lives.
In manufacturing, its keeping production lines moving.

In every industry, the stakes are real. Success comes from shared accountability and mutual trust.

More than just technology

Being shortlisted isn’t just about technical excellence. It’s about the culture that drives it.

Our team takes immense pride in the support they deliver, knowing that behind every network or application, there are real people relying on it. The motivation comes not from bonuses or recognition, but from doing what’s right. That mindset is rare, and we’re incredibly proud and grateful to have a team that lives it every day.

We’re honoured to be finalists for Team of the Year. This moment is a reflection of everything our team stands for: professionalism, excellence, innovation, and above all — heart.

To the team at WhiteSpider: this recognition is yours.

And to our clients and partners: thank you for trusting us to deliver when it matters most.
